Le corti di Orentano

Le corti di Orentano

A walk among the corti (rural court-like clusters) that tell the story of how the village used to be.

Around the center, Orentano is made up of corti (rural court-like clusters): rural clusters of houses gathered around a common aia (courtyard), each named after a family. A walk among the corti is the simplest way to see how the village used to be.

Some stops:

  • Corte Brogi — its photo represented the frazione (hamlet) at Expo 2015.
  • Corte Carletti — with the Chiesino della SS. Annunziata and the site where a shepherds' hut from the 3rd–5th century AD was excavated in 1988.
  • Corte Colombai — along the local road towards La Selva.
  • Corte Nardi — in the La Sughera area, at the end of via delle Fontine.

Quiet roads, but without sidewalks: watch out for cars and respect for the aie, which are private spaces.
